Unlimited Football Wordle
Unlimited runs are kept separate — they never touch your daily streak.
How Unlimited works
Every round picks another footballer from the same 533-player pool as the daily game, drawn in a shuffled order so nobody repeats until you have been through all of them. You get eight guesses per player. Each guess is compared on nationality, league, club, position, age, shirt number and height, with arrows telling you whether the real answer is higher or lower. Solve the player and the next one kicks off straight away; use up all eight and the run ends there.
How scoring works
Three numbers follow you around. Run is how many players you have solved back-to-back right now — it goes up by one every time you get someone, and resets to zero only when you start a new run after being knocked out. Best run is the longest streak you have ever put together, and it never goes down. Solved is the lifetime count of players you have identified across every run. Because the pool is shuffled per run, two people playing the same number of rounds will almost never see the same players in the same order.
How it differs from the daily puzzle
The daily puzzle is deliberately relaxed: one footballer a day, the same for everyone in the world, and as many guesses as you need. Unlimited is the opposite — the pressure comes from the eight-guess limit, and your score is how many players you can solve in a row before one gets away. Nothing you do here changes your daily streak, so you can experiment freely.
Tips for a long run
Open with a player from a league and country you know well: a miss still narrows things down, because you learn the nationality, league, club and position are all wrong at once. Watch the arrows on age, shirt number and height — those three converge fastest. Remember that age and shirt number show as "close" when they are within three, so a yellow cell is a much tighter clue than it looks.
Unlimited FAQ
- How many guesses do I get?
- Eight per player. The board shows one empty row for each guess you have left, so you can always see how much room you have. Run out and the current run ends; the player is revealed and you can start a fresh one.
- Can the same player come up twice?
- Not within a run. Each run shuffles the whole 533-player pool and works through it in that order, so you would have to solve every single player before anyone repeats. Start a new run and the order is reshuffled.
- Does Unlimited affect my daily streak?
- No. Unlimited keeps its own separate record. Your daily streak only moves when you play the daily puzzle, which is exactly why you can experiment here without any risk.
- Why is there a guess limit here but not in the daily game?
- The daily puzzle is meant to be relaxed — one player, no time pressure, as many guesses as you need. Without a limit an endless mode has no fail state, so a run would never end and the number would just count how long you had been playing. The eight-guess cap is what makes a run mean something.
- Is eight guesses enough?
- Comfortably, in information terms. Each guess compares seven attributes at once and the arrows narrow age, shirt number and height from both sides, so the field collapses fast. The hard part is not the maths — it is recalling a footballer who fits what you have already learned.
- Do I lose my progress if I close the tab?
- No. The current run, your best run and your lifetime solved count are all stored in your browser, so you can come back and pick up exactly where you left off. Nothing is sent to a server and no account is needed.
